I am a Scottie owner/collector. I didn’t purchase the dog for play. It was shipped very quickly and packaged well but I was very disappointed in the look of the dog. It seemed smaller than I expected. The fur skirt and beard aren’t nearly as long as in the picture. They weren’t combed either. I would not purchase this item again.

I recently purchased this little guy and a Yomiko Westie as “collectables” for my wife, (our family includes a female Scotty and a male Westie) - so this review should not necessarily be construed as an endorsement of the toy for children. I gave the Westie five stars. I’m a little less enthusiastic concerning the Scotty.
While the stuffed Westie captured the Westie look - particularly that unique quizical Westie facial expression that reminds me so much of Hobbs, the tiger in the old “Calvin and Hobbs” comic strip - the Scotty’s expresion is more “doll-like.” It’s smiling. As a matter of fact, our “live” Scotty really does smile - but it’s a toothsome grin that makes people say, “Oh, is she going to bite?!?” Worse, and this is a problem shared with the stuffed Westie, the tail has been docked - in “real life,” a Scottish Terrier’s tail is about 2/3’s as long as its back. The toy’s eyes are round, instead of almond-shaped. And finally, the shape of the head is wrong - the toy has a forehead, instead of the long, almost smooth plane that runs from the top of a Scotty’s head, to the tip of its nose. These are all flaws that irritate my wife, the adult perfectionist, but they are unlikely to phase a child.
I would not recommend giving this toy to a child younger than 5 or 6 years old. But I think that any child of 6 to 10, particularly if they love dogs, and especially if they collect stuffed animals, would be pleased with this little guy. I’m not sure that it would hold up well to “hard play,” but it will certainly hold up to being loved.

This was a gift for some friends overseas. So personally I did not see the items. However, there have been no complaints. Items arrived on time and in excellent condition.
