The talking chess trainer is a good first chess board although it doesn’t say much at all . You would be better off buying the regular chess trainer for less money and skip the 3 , or so, phrases that it says. But if you want a long term game that will grow with you (if you plan to study) i would shop around some . Novag has a good line of machines with wooden pieces and stronger programming and faster response time. Although Saitek and Mephisto have that too.

The entire family had a lot of fun playing with this game, but after 2 weeks of use few of the buttons stop working.I don’t recommend to pay $50 for a toy that is going to last for just 2 weeks.
